|"A pleasing floral oolong that doesn't demand your whole attention. Would be great for an everyday oolong."|
My oolong today has a grassy, creamy floral aroma and the leaves are a lighter olive green in color. This batch was harvested last winter in Yang Zi Wan district in Shanlinxi area, Zhu Shan Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. This company doesn't skimp on information about the individual teas which is wonderful.
I set it up to brew using 195 degree water and a steeping time of three minutes. The resulting liquor is a really light amber and has a strong honeysuckle aroma that is wonderful. I tend to be drawn towards the floral oolongs.
This is an interesting tea with a nutty base seasoned with a slight touch of mineral that coats the tongue. Then comes the sweetness of the honeysuckle that lingers on the roof of the mouth. There is a slight dryness at the end of each sip which I love as it encourages me to take another sip.
While this is a pleasing oolong, it isn't as complex or multilayered as I would hope. Would I stock it? I might as I tend to go thru a lot of tea when I am at work and don't have time to really concentrate on the flavors that I can coax out of a tea.
