The dry leaves are short and tightly rolled, mixed brown tones. Aroma is lightly peaty.
I brewed 1 tsp. of leaves to 8 oz. of water at 200 F for 4 minutes. The liquor is dark amber. Aroma is malty. Taste is bold but not harsh -- malty, creamy, lightly peaty, a rich well-rounded taste. As expected, no astringency. The brew tastes organic, by that I mean it obviously comes from healthy and well nurtured plants. Really nice as a breakfast tea – wakes a person up with no jangles.
The Belseri tea estate in Assam on the banks of the Brahmaputra River is made up of the Belseri and Chardwar Tea gardens, with 1500 acres under cultivation. Heavy rainfall and hot, humid day time temperatures in this area create a greenhouse-like environment well suited to growing this tea.
The Belseri estate is one of the largest organic tea producers in northern Assam. The gardens are classified as Naturorganic, indicating the specific method used to rapidly convert them from chemical farming to organic, as well as the use of potentized and energized herbal extracts to control pests and fungal diseases.
