It has been a while since I have had the opportunity to sample a tea from Canton Tea Co. which is a shame as I really do adore their teas. If only they were based in the US though I guess that England and the rest of Europe deserve a really good tea vendor.

My sample today is an oolong that has a soft floral aroma along with hints of berries. Very smooth and inviting. I set my tea-maker up to brew using 10g of leaves to 1200 ml of water heated to 190 degrees and let steep for 3 minutes. The resulting liquor is a rich old gold with the fragrance of honeysuckle and lilacs.

The flavor itself is very smooth with no dryness to be found. It is lightly floral with a mineral taste reminding me of the sea. There is a very faint lingering aftertaste of flowers. This tea is billed on their website as a good introductory oolong and I am not sure that I agree. If this was the first oolong that I had tried, I probably would not have been the avid drinker that I am now. While a pleasant tea, it is rather flat and without any complexity to be found. Simply put, this tea isn't of the quality that I expect from Canton Tea Co.
