Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot
"smoooth and mellow, slightly sweet, hints of fruits and nuts, and lacking extremely vegetal or floral notes"

I love love love a good cup of oolong. Because the very large proportion of the oolong I have drank has had Taiwanese origins, I was looking forward to trying Golden Tips Tea Darjeeling Oolong. Visually speaking, the tea is a darker oolong; even though oolong is often considered the in-between of black and green tea, the dry leaves of this particular variety seemed to be closer to black teas. I used one heaping teaspoon of leaves per cup and steeped the leaves in 190-degree water for three minutes. A crisp coppery-brown liquid resulted. It didn't take me long to realize that I really, and I mean really, loved this tea. It manages to capture all of my personal favorite oolong attributes: smoooth and mellow, slightly sweet, hints of fruits and nuts, and lacking extremely vegetal or floral notes. Even though this is a Darjeeling tea, I found myself best describing this tea as classic Chinese restaurant tea. However, when I focused on the flavor, I could detect the unique contribution that comes from using Darjeeling leaves instead of Chinese leaves. I was very pleased with this tea, and found myself drinking cup after cup. I also was quite pleased to see that I enjoyed this tea in both hot and iced form, which is unusual for me since I normally don't enjoy oolong as an iced tea. In all, this is a high-quality tea that delivers wonderful oolong flavor. I highly recommend this tea!
