Shaiha’s Teaview Snapshot
"This is a delicious tea. Not one that is so complex that it demands your complete attention instead it is a tea that could become a good friend, one that is perfect to hang out with every day."

Now that fall is on the doorstep the idea of a hot tea in the morning is all the more appetizing. My tea today is from Peony Teas. I haven't had the pleasure of reviewing teas from this vendor before but they do have a pleasing website that is easy to navigate. My sample consists of little fists of leaves ranging from a soft golden green to a dark olive in color. The aroma has the sweetness of flowers namely honeysuckle with a touch of orchids. Since I love floral oolongs this aroma is enough to make my mouth water.
I set up the leaves to brew using 195 degree water and a steep time of 3 minutes. The liquor brews up to a rich old gold and the floral aroma is very present.
This tea is a delight. The website compares it to a marriage of a Dong Ding and a Jade oolong and I can have to agree. There is a sweetness that coats the roof of the mouth and lingers for quite a while. There is just a hint of nuttiness and a pleasant mineral taste that cuts the sweetness just a bit. As the tea cools somewhat hints of melon and peaches also emerge.
This is a delicious tea. Not one that is so complex that it demands your complete attention instead it is a tea that could become a good friend, one that is perfect to hang out with every day.
