|"An excellent tea to help green tea lovers "acquire a taste" for oolong."|
While I will always enjoy a steaming mug of P.G. Tips, I crave more complexity these days. I want my tea to taste malty and astringent, but also flowery and creamy and lemony and grassy...and so much more. The only teas that fit this bill are oolongs.
Peony Tea S. company said their Jade Oolong is a good "introduction" to oolongs. Perhaps they assumed that the reader has been hooked on green teas, since they claimed this Jade oolong is not as "robust" as others. I don't have a problem with "robust", but if you have favored green teas, this leaf will whet your palate for the complexity of oolongs.
It had the best of that vegetal, fresh,"green" taste, with hints of creamy smoothness, citrus, and jasmine. It was delicate, refreshing, and interesting--meaning it was a tea to savor. Even the dullest palate can detect several layers of flavor in this one cup. I should know. I only drank fannings and thought that was as good as it got!
I don't think anyone would regret buying this tea. I rate it a 9.
