I have officially decided that red rooibos sometimes has a weird, horrible aftertaste while green rooibos never does, meaning it's much more delicious. Unfortunately, it's also harder to find, so I try to jump on all the green rooibos I can. I steep one heaping teaspoon at 212° for five minutes. The golden liquor smells mostly like lemongrass and, unsurprisingly, tastes much the same. Unfortunately, the lemongrass overshadows the green rooibos. It's not unexpected, but because I enjoy green rooibos so much, it is disappointing. I do appreciate the slight honey sweetness the rooibos lends to the cup, countering the tart lemongrass and creating a balanced blend. The lemon is realistic without tasting at all like Mr. Clean.
This is a bright and refreshing herbal. It's smooth, simple, and a brilliant palate cleanser. It would probably be an excellent iced tea. This is a classic pairing of lemon and honey, and the sweet tartness can suit many moods or soothe a sore throat. It's not a unique blend, but it's well done, and it's delicious.
