Thumbs up!"I am really pleased by this example of Dong Ding Oolong which just happens to be my favorite of the oolong teas. There is a lot of complexity to it and every sip is slightly different. I do highly recommend it to lovers of oolong teas as this tea is quite the treat."

One of my greatest pleasures in reviewing teas is discovering new vendors. Today this happens to be Driftwood Teas who are based in the United Kingdom. The owner, James Henderson, became an Ambassador's personal chef and well this gentleman loved great teas. And now he has made available to the public some of his finds. I really like the fact that there are several ways to search on the site including by country. There are some teas from Thailand that I would really like to try along with a few others.

My sample today was vacuum sealed so I know that it is fresh. The leaves themselves are a medium to dark olive in color and folded up into good sized fists. The aroma is a blend of creamy fruitiness with a touch of graininess. Quite delicious.

I really appreciate how even on my sample bag there are instructions for both western and gong-fu brewing styles. I got for the western and use 200 degree water and a steep time of 2 minutes. The resulting liquor is a pale gold in coloring and the aroma is now nutty with shy hints of peaches peeking out.

The tea has a creamy texture and is naturally sweet. The predominant taste is that of a lightly toasted blend of hazelnut and cashew. Highlighting the nuttiness is hints of peaches and apricots. Occasionally I catch a whisp of lemons. Both the creaminess and the nuttiness remain as a lingering aftertaste.

I was able to actually get 4 solid steeps before this delightful tea gave out. The second was actually my favorite as the peaches really came to the fore still with that delightful creamy quality.

I am really pleased by this example of Dong Ding Oolong which just happens to be my favorite of the oolong teas. There is a lot of complexity to it and every sip is slightly different. I do highly recommend it to lovers of oolong teas as this tea is quite the treat.
