"The flavor is sweet yet subtle, complex yet easy-drinking, and long-lasting yet not at all bitter or pungent."

I recently sampled a honey black tea from T-Oolong and today I am sampling a honey oolong from them. The honey flavor is not a result of honey being added to the tea, but instead the result of leaf-hopper insects biting the leaves and depositing saliva on the leaves; this saliva then takes on a sweet honey flavor when the tea leaves are roasted. This kind of info may be best ignored, as I think that most westerners may likely be turned off by that little factoid.
I prepared this tea by using just under-boiling water and infusing a heaping teaspoon of leaves in the water for about three minutes. The leaves are very large, voluminous and airy, so I recommend using a decent amount of leaves per serving of tea. The tea that results is a golden honey color that darkens just slightly as the tea cools. There is a noticeable sweetness wafting off my teacup. The flavor of this tea is entirely pleasant. The flavor is sweet yet subtle, complex yet easy-drinking, and long-lasting yet not at all bitter or pungent. In short, it has all of the qualities you look for in a great cup of tea, and none of the traits that would detract from the experience. The sweetness does very much resemble a natural honey flavor, although it has a bit more of an earthy quality. The oolong tea is not too floral, really not floral at all, and instead has the earthy/nutty oolong flavor which is what I prefer anyway.
This is an unusual and highly delicious brew. I have no reservations about recommending this one! It is a little on the pricey side ($13.99 for 75g, at the time that I write this), so this might be one of those teas that you buy and save for special occasions instead of everyday consumption.
