Giddapahar is a small, family-owned Darjeeling tea estate, also known as ‘Eagles Cliff” due to its high mountain location. The slopes are shrouded in mist most of the time, giving the Chinese tea bushes the right conditions to produce wonderfully fragrant leaves.

The small dry tea leaves are a pleasant mix of greens, browns, and white, some silver tips present. They unfurl to surprisingly large size.

Light floral aroma emitted immediately upon brewing. Enticing. Pleasant noticeable astringency. The tea is a sleeper. The first few times I tried it, my experience was pleasurable but not particularly memorable. But with random sampling over some weeks, I discovered new subtleties. Perhaps the tea needed to breathe in its package a bit?

In any case, the most “developed” of my brews provided a striking fresh grassy first flush taste and aroma. Drinking this tea led to clear, crisp thoughts, in accordance with the tasting experience.
