Vendor description: This FTGFOP 1 Invoice No DJ 01 / 2012 from Sourenee Tea Estate in the Mirik Valley of Darjeeling is a superb Organic tea. The leaves look delicately rolled and there is an abundance of green leaf giving it a very lively appeal. The liquor is very light and has a floral and delicate bouquet.

The name Sourenee is a combination of two words: “Sour” – a regional tree species having medicinal value and “Rani” – translating to ‘Queen of the Valley.” The 137 hectare estate grows tea shrubs on its steep slopes at altitudes of 700m to 1300m. Sourenee Tea Estate is over 100 years old and obtained organic certification in April, 2009.

My experience: floral yet also malty, brews stronger than many 1st flush Darjeelings. Characteristically astringent yet not harsh. This is another great tea from Lochan.
