|"A very nutty and unsweet tea that misses the mark in terms of it's namesake."|
Tealicious Christmas Cookies is Indian black tea flavored with almond pieces, cinnamon and safflower blossoms. When I’m thinking of Christmas Cookies, I’m thinking of cinnamon, cloves, sugar and spice and everything nice. Maybe there’s a hint of that here, but really, it’s the nuttiness I can’t get past. Now, do nuts go into Christmas cookies? Sure…. sometimes. But most of the time one thinks of plain ol’ sugar cookies when dreaming up visions of Santa and snowmen and reindeer cutouts. Any sugary sweetness that would have come naturally from any of the ingredients (or even unnaturally via any additives to this blend) is all but overtaken by the nutty and more savory flavors. In fact, there’s even a bitterness on the finish that is not at all like any Christmas cookie I have enjoyed. Now that said, this is not a bad tea – it just irks me when the names are misappropriated.
Christmas Cookies is a seasonal product - it was a bit preemptive of me to sample and review it as we just-barely rolled into the fall season. Worse yet, I’m not rolling this review out until just before the holidays, so by the time it’s posted I fear the tea will be unavailable. (Let it be known I took accurate notes when sampling the tea, but have just been backlogged in getting my review written up! Apologies to the purveyor and the consumer alike.) Then again, the holiday gear is in full-bloom at the stores earlier than ever, each year – and so perhaps it is not a stretch to start considering adding this to your stocking stuffer list for next year. Like the Boy Scouts say – be prepared!
