My vacuum packed sample today had little olive green fists of tea with an aroma of bread and light floral. There were a lot of stems in my sample also. I set it up to brew using 195 degree water and a steep time of three minutes. The resulting liquor is gold in color with a rich aroma of orchids, brown sugar and honey.
My favorite oolong is the Dong Ding and this is a very fine example of the breed. A fairly complex oolong with flavors that change with each sip. I picked up orchids, caramel, honey, barley, a hint of spice and stone fruit. I was able to resteep the leaves a second time and had another wonderful cup in which the honey and stone fruit are the predominant flavors. Actually I was able to reuse the leaves three times before they gave out.
I really enjoyed this tea and would gladly pick up some for my personal collection. Unfortunately this tea is sold out however there are a few others that I have my eye on.
