Even though I have heard all types of complaints about the quality of tea in Britain, I do have to say that I have ran across some wonderful vendors based in England. The Tea Horse is such a vendor with a wide variety of teas and glorious gift boxes. They also have a very nice subscription program that makes me wish that I had found them when I lived in Europe.

My sample today is from a tea estate in what was very recently know as Sikkim. The leaves themselves are a smorgasbord of colors with gold, orange and several shades on green with the aroma being both nutty and toasty. I set it up to brew using 195 degree water and a steep time of 3 minutes.

The liquor is a bright burnt orange with a fragrances of roasted hazelnuts, pomegranates and citrus. The taste is delicious with hazelnuts, molasses, fresh peaches and hints of citrus to lighten up the tone. At the very end of each sip, growing more pronounced as it cools, is a slight bite of minerals and a bit of heat from spice.

I am very impressed and sad that the shipping from the UK is so high for me. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future samples from this company.
