The leaves of this tea are short and olive green and brown in color. They are lightly curled. I used a rounded teaspoon of this leaf to 8 ounces of 185 degree water, allowing three minutes for my steep. I recommend keeping your steep times pretty on the ball with this tea and preferred a level teaspoon to a rounded teaspoon. The tea seemed prone to bitterness to me, though some of the bitter taste truly seemed to be part and parcel of the taste profile.

As hinted above, the infused leaf has both bitter and sweet flavors at play. Green tea tastes are prominent. The tea is rather dry. I preferred the second infusion. It was dry as well, but more full in terms of mouth feel. The bitterness of the first infusion was more subdued and seemed more a component of the leaf. The sweeter tastes that were present in the first infusion are more pronounced and lend more smoothness to the sips.

This tea wasn't really one to draw me in. I wouldn't seek it out. It seemed tricky to get a good infusion and ultimately I think the leaf itself is more the culprit than poor brewing technique.

  1. Shree Mulay Says:

I consider this among the finest Green Teas from Darjeeling India; This truly is the champagne of Green Teas.

This is among the few green teas of various brands from Darjeeling that does not have a muddy flavor.

On top of it, it is the most smooth, perfect blend of mildly bitter sweetness.

It is better to use less green tea leaves and steep longer than to use a larger quantity and steep less………..
