This SFTGOP1 has a sweet muscatel scent with a bit of sparkle to it. The leaves are medium long, curled and a little open. The coloring is predominantly dark charcoal with lights of tan and silvery olive. I used a simple 8 ounces of water to 1 teaspoon leaf infused for three minutes in freshly boiled water allowed to cool for perhaps 30 seconds.
The tea infuses to a dark copper orange and has a sweet, rich and fragrant scent. The perfume is muscatel but it's easy to detect apple and a rich, autumnal scent reminiscent of both ripe and baked fruit.
The tea itself is very smooth. It's completely non bitter and has no sharpness to speak of. All the edges are rounded, so to speak. I enjoy the full, fragrant, smooth and fruity perfume with its nice sparkle of muscatel and especially appreciate the lack of wildness to it. This is what I look for in a second flush. Delicious and fully flavored with a tame and tempered flavor that isn't too wild to follow on a quiet morning. I had an excellent, sturdy second infusion and found that every cup or pot of this tea that I brewed was dependable and enjoyable. I personally found that no sweetener was called for with this good tasting tea. If sweetening is your preferred method, it would accept it just fine.
This is a go to tea in my opinion. It's preparation is simple and the taste is very good. I would recommend this very much to second flush darjeeling fans looking for a dependable every day Darjeeling.
