This is a traditional looking Darjeeling. The leaves are short to medium in length, twisty and colored in hues of gray green, olive and pale brown. I used a teaspoon of leaf per 8 ounces of water brought to a full boil and then allowed to cool just for about 30 seconds. I allowed three minutes for the leaf to infuse.

The cup is light pumpkin gold in color and very fragrant. The scent is both floral and grainy. The website at Tea Emporium mentions fruit flavors like banana being apparent in this offering and I will admit that this didn't strike me as a fruity Darjeeling but rather a floral one. There's something to the banana that I think impressed me more as being a substantial, grainy sort of flavor. The sweet, full and somewhat grainy base is overlaid by wonderful perfumed floral notes. The floral qualities are amazingly strong but recede gracefully into a sweet grainy base with a kiss of astringency at the close.

I'm reminded of apple, millet and then am enchanted by the wine like floral perfume dancing through it all.

The cooling cup changes to a well balanced floral and grainy mix that is really superb. This is a smooth and enjoyable cup. As a note, I found the second infusion rather lackluster, but the first was excellent.
