Its OK"The Tea Can Company doesn’t seem like a typical company you’d buy your everday drinking tea from. Their focus is on branding and it shows. If you’re looking for tea to give as wedding favors, an easy sip to sell at your health spa, or a free cup for clients to sip on at your boutique, this is a decent company for those types of things. teacancompanylogoThe Tea Can Company is an online tea site that provides specialty branding for hotels, gift shops, tea rooms, weddings, etc. They started off as a design agency business, in 2002 they presented their first “Tea Package” to their clients. It’s obvious from their website that they feel pretty strongly about branding and helping their clients create a custom branded tea product. What’s lacking is their selection, they offer only 10 blends, all flavored tea, no pure leaf. I have three of their teas to sample, the first is their Rooibos Chai Tea. This tea had a tough competitor compared to the Stash Rooibos Chai that was the first rooibos chai I had and has honestly been one of two favorite chai blends.

All of their teas come in pyramid sachets. I was a little dissapointed when I opened my first package. The outside is a plastic casing with company info, the tea name and ingredients on it. No brewing instructions are provided nor did I see them on their website. I was also dissapointed by the string tag, it was plain white with no design or anything on it.

I brewed Rooibos Chai at work and used the Keurig, so whatever water temperature Keurig’s use that’s what it was. I didn’t feel too bad as the tea didn’t seem too finicky, nor did the package seem detailed enough to make me really care.

The Tea Can Company’s Rooibos Chai is decent, it definitly didn’t measure up to the spicyness and depth of flavor in Stash’s Rooibos Chai I so love, but it was okay. The liqour is an amber red. At first I brewed for 3 minutes, it was rather bland so I increased the steep time to 5 minutes. The ingredients listed are Rooibos, Ginger, Cinnamon, and Green Cardamom with Vanilla Flavor. The vanilla and cinnamon were the prominent flavors in this cup. There was a hint of cardamom, but the ginger was almost non-existant for me. Would I do this again? Probably not.

The Tea Can Company doesn’t seem like a typical company you’d buy your everday drinking tea from. Their focus is on branding and it shows. If you’re looking for tea to give as wedding favors, an easy sip to sell at your health spa, or a free cup for clients to sip on at your boutique, this is a decent company for those types of things.

If you’re looking for a company for everyday drinking tea, I’d look elsewhere.
