narkwendellchinayunnanYunnan is one of the black teas that China is famous for. The Yunnan region is up in the southwest corner of China and has been producing tea for over 1700 years. Some of the tea bushes there are centuries old and over 100' tall.

My sample which I have been enjoying over the past week or so is delicious both hot and iced. The dry leaves give off a peppery scent and are a dark brown with some golden tips. Once brewed the liquor is a golden brown with a piney peppery aroma. It tastes as though it has been lightly smoked with a bit of a bite from the pepper. It has a medium mouth feel and is very smooth without the dryness or astringency that I was expecting from the aroma when hot. When it is served as iced tea there is a touch of astringency at the end of each drink.

While I did find this tea to be delicious it won't be going on my list to purchase as I have found other black teas from this vendor that I prefer.
