autumnharvestsomethingtieTieguanyin is quickly becoming one of my favorite oolongs. While most I've tried have a warm, floral taste, Verdant's Tieguanyin is very unique. This Autumn Tieguanyin was harvested on November 10th, 2012 on the Bi family farm, Anxi County, Fujian, China.

I chose a long brew for this tea initially and steeped about 1 tablespoon of leaves at 190F for 3 minutes after washing. The scent of the leaves themselves remind me of a pile of raked autumn leaves. At 3 minutes the liqour is a pale yellow and it is woody and has a slight floral taste with a citrus zing, very sweet.

Verdant gives a flavorful profile for this tea envoking tastes of key lime pie with graham cracker crust and whipped cream. My this sounds amazing! Since I chose the lazy way of brewing I finally achieved the lime flavor with hints of orange and graham cracker around 7 minutes, but whose keeping time?

If you're looking for an other than ordinary Tieguanyin this is definitly one to try. Even if you're not a huge Tieguanyin fan, it still is worth the sip. Key lime pie in a cup, yummo!
