My tea today comes from a company that is based in the Netherlands. They specialize in teas from China. and boy do they have some very tasty teas. Tea Adventure's website is easy to navigate though I do wish that there was a way to convert the currency to the US dollar.
There is some wonderful information on the website that I wanted to share.
Very special certified organic black tea from Zhangzhou, Fujian. Distinctive fruity flavour and very soothing. A tea you will embrace only after you start to get used to it. Very different from other black tea, made out of very high quality Tieguanyin tea tree leaves.
Origin: Daishan, organic tea plantation area. Altitude around 600 meters.
Taste: Fruity, cherry, sweet, soothing aftertaste
Harvest time: 2012
The dry leaves are nothing special with that cozy black tea aroma. Once steeped however all bets are off. The liquor is a deep deep brown that almost reminds me of an espresso except for the wonderful nutty aroma of roasting hazelnuts. Now I admit that I didn't read the brewing instructions beforehand so I steeped it for twice as long as called for yet there was no bitterness to be found.
I am not sure why Tea Adventure thinks that the flavor of the tea is something someone would have to get 'used to'. It has a wonderfully sweet fruity flavor of plums, peaches and some type of citrus. It was immediate love from the first sip on. Needless to say, I do highly recommend this tea to anyone that likes their teas to be a touch different from the norm.
Oh and I went through the entire pot before I remembered that I wanted to try it iced. Oh well. Just gives me an excuse to pick some up.
