Thumbs up!"The tea, as a whole, has a light body but there is still plenty of flavor. The coconut comes through first, with the straw-like white tea and floral flavors being secondary on the palate. "

A generous sample portion of this tea was included in my most recent order with The Persimmon Tree Tea company. As soon as I sniffed the tea, I knew this one would be a winner. The tea is rich in coconut aroma, with gentle and pleasant floral undertones. I can't say for sure, but this tea seems very similar to a coconut-flavored white tea from another one of my favorite tea vendors, so I am not sure if it is the same exact blend or a similar blend. Visually speaking, this is a rather attractive tea, containing large white tea leaf pieces, plus the speckling of red safflowers and blue cornflowers, along with the occasional piece of shredded coconut. I followed the recommended brewing parameters and steeped one teaspoon of leaves in eight ounces of 180-degree water for three minutes. The tea is a pale yellowish color with a subtle aroma that is predominantly coconut. The flavor is simply wonderful. The tea, as a whole, has a light body but there is still plenty of flavor. The coconut comes through first, with the straw-like white tea and floral flavors being secondary on the palate. The tea has a nice, clean finish. As a hot tea, I'm not sure I would recommend it in those cases where you need a really strong pick-me-up morning brew, but this works quite nicely as an afternoon tea. I do think this tea shines best as an iced tea because the flavor is crisp and refreshing, and although sufficiently sweet, it is not cloying. This tea's price ($13.99 for 2.5 ounces at the time of this review) is on par with other comparable flavored white teas. As you can get a second infusion (although likely not as flavorful as the first infusion) out of these leaves, you can get the most out of these leaves.
