Thumbs up!"The predominant flavor, a sweet and sturdy caramel-cocoa note, is complemented by a mildly astringent finish which contains subtle notes of pine and earth. This one does stand out as being among the best Keemuns I have sampled over the years. "

lulinsingestatekeemThe more I sample products from Lu Lin Teas, the more I am becoming impressed with what they have to offer. This morning I opened their Single Estate Keemun Tea and was greeted with a fresh and pungent aroma that consisted of cocoa notes with some mild pine notes too. The dry leaves are thin and compact, just as I expect of a Keemun. I steeped one teaspoon of leaves in six ounces of boiling water for three minutes, producing a coppery red liquid that is often a hallmark of Keemun teas. I found this tea to be an instant pleaser because it possesses a rich flavor that is fairly complex, but without being too heavy (which is often a fault I find with many a Keemun tea). The predominant flavor, a sweet and sturdy caramel-cocoa note, is complemented by a mildly astringent finish which contains subtle notes of pine and earth. This is a solid drink that works well as a breakfast tea and does very well on its own. I enjoyed two cups in a row without ever feeling compelled to add milk or sugar. But as this is a heavier-bodied brew, I assume it can handle either or both quite well. While this tea is heavier-bodied, it avoids tasting flat and heavy, which is sometimes a delicate balance that can be hard to attain. While I don't consider myself to be an expert on Keemun teas, I can say that of the various offerings I have sampled over the years, this one does stand out as being among the best, if not the best. The price of this tea (approximately $15 for 50 grams) is, at least for me, a bit on the steeper side of the price scale, but if you are able to splurge, this is a tea worth trying.
