|"Heavy on muscatel and wine flavours, this tea comes as a surprise."|
The flavour, however, is largely unexpected given the scent. For some reason, I had something smooth in mind, and while it isn't harsh, it's far from mellow. Sharp and acidic, it's got a bitterness (that I wouldn't call unpleasant) and a dry finish. Heavy on muscatel and wine flavours, this tea comes as a surprise.
My second steep is smoother and easier to drink. It doesn't have the wow of the first, but it's a really good cup and a nice wind down from the first steep.
With its dry and delicate finish, I feel like this would make an interesting pairing tea. You could do some fun things with the leaf, seeing how it changes the taste of your favourite chocolate, dessert, even dark meat. Whether or not you like the flavours this hits, it's got so much character, I can't help but love that a tea like this exists, love that I got to try it. If you get the chance, I wholeheartedly recommend you give it a shot.
