I have 3 passions in life - tea, beer and music (not necessarily in that order). I've often dreamt of owning the perfect shop on earth -- one-third tea cafe, one-third bar and one-third record shop. It's a surefire recipe for winning, so any interested investors, please give me a shout. ;)
My entire life, I've been put off by coffee - never liked the smell or the taste. I've always been drawn to tea. Initially as a kid, I'd be relegated to the bland and boring Big Name Brand tea that my mother would buy - mainly because it costs pennies. But I still enjoyed it at the time.
Through my college years I experimented more with different kinds of tea, and drank it more and more consistently. At one point a similarly-obsessed roommate and I almost started a print fanzine exclusively about tea. But we never got it off the ground. Now, nearly 15 years later, I'm proud to finally realize that goal in a small way by joining the Teaviews team.
After college, my obsession with tea grew ever more. I now have an entire cupboard at home exclusively devoted to tea. At work I have an entire desk drawer for the same purpose. Tea accessories litter my desk - honey bottles, cordless water heater, spoons, mugs… I generally keep some tea in my cup at all times throughout the day. At home, I retire to bed with a cup by my side.
I love to travel, and everywhere I go I'm always on the lookout for a good teahouse or tea shop. the Dushanbe Teahouse in Boulder, CO was the most recent place that really wowed me. Closer to home, there is a wonderful spot in Crystal River FL called the Back Porch Garden Tea Bar in Crystal River that is run by a friendly couple, and is my preferred source for loose tea. I love finding new places -- and new flavors for my palette.
