Teaviews Profile: Emma

I'm Emma, a grad student from Ohio. I'm pursuing my degree in Media and Cultural relations focusing on wine culture and history. I'm currently a wine news writer for The Second Glass wine magazine, and have my own wine blog: danceswithwines.wordpress.com, and I've reported for both radio and television stations. I guess you could say my passion is writing and reporting, but I love the research process that goes into children's tv shows. I have many interests including reading, cooking, exercise, wine, and Ancient Egyptian history.

My love affair with tea began as a child. My Dad introduced me to tea. We started out drinking Lipton black tea with a little sugar and milk every Sunday when he and I would have breakfast together. I remember loving to experiment with different milks to see how it made the flavor of the tea change. As I got older I began to enjoy iced tea a lot more, and got away from black. Once I got to college, though the cold Ohio winter days spent cooped up in my dorm room studying made me crave some wonderful warm tea. I had been drinking various bagged teas from Lipton, Twinings, Celestial Seasonings, and the Republic of Tea until I stumbled upon Teavana. There is one at my favorite mall in Columbus, and I stopped for a sample. I was floored!! I didn't know tea could taste so good! I've been hooked ever since; trying out all different types and combinations of loose leaf tea. I equate my experience to the first time I bought a Coach handbag. Once you have a taste of the really good stuff, you can't go back to the cheaper brands.

My favorite type of tea is oolong. I love the nutty varieties. I also love anything vanilla flavored, and flavored black teas are great.I also enjoy spiced greens and light, fruity whites. I have a huge sweet tooth, any time I can satisfy that with tea is a good time.
