While I have always enjoyed the smell of coffee I can't say the same for the taste. Having grown up in the cold and snowy winters of upstate New York , I was always jealous of coffee drinkers who had something with which to warm themselves from the frigid temperatures. I tried tea, but until my mid twenties, I thought orange pekoe was the only tea that existed. It was and still is a tea that I don't much care for.
I was eventually rescued at a hotel in Thailand . I still don't know what kind of tea it was or why I decided to give it a try, but it was my first positive experience with drinking tea. That was more than twenty years ago and I still clearly remember each morning looking forward to a cup of tea after finishing my breakfast. It wasn't just the taste, but the unexplainable experience of sitting still and drinking a hot drink.
Soon after that, I spent several weeks in England . Here I learned the importance of quality milk or cream in tea. I lived in Korea and Japan and enjoyed unique flavors like peanut tea as well as a wide variety of green teas. My wife is from Morocco where they perform magic with green tea and mint.
Some are excited by fine wines. I'm all about tea. I love the preparation process and the peace that accompanies drinking it.
My current list of favorite teas include: Kashmiri Chai, Assam Gold and Honeybush.
