Teaviews Profile: Shelly
My name is Shelly, and I live in northern Ohio. One of my main passions in life is tea. For as long as I can remember, tea has been a part of my daily life. While growing up, the sight of a sun tea jug sitting on our front porch brewing was common. On occasion, if the jug accidentally stayed out all night, we drank “moon tea” - the stronger, the better. However, I did not become a hard-core tea drinker until about five or six years ago. I remember where and when I distinctly became addicted to tea. I was on vacation in Fort Lauderdale in October, and it was surprisingly cool in the evenings. Therefore, instead of an ice cream cone, I decided to have a cup of Stash Orange Spice Tea from a local coffee shop. That was all it took for me to become a full-fledged tea-a-holic. I never tasted anything as wonderful as that sweet and spicy tea while cruising along the waterways of Florida. To this day, orange spice tea remains one of my favorites.
I have a wide variety of tea tastes and a wide variety of tea in my cupboard to match my mood. Like most, I go through flavor addictions. I drink black, red, herbal, white, green… any type is fine with me except hibiscus/rosehip herbal teas. I have not been able to stomach those despite many efforts. I have a slight obsession with Specialteas Rooibos Lemon Chiffon. However, give me a cup of strong black tea with a fruit flavor and I am usually content. I drink all my tea strong and plain - no sugar, cream, honey, or lemon needed. I guess you could say I have a passion for tea, all right. Heck, I have an entire cabinet alone just dedicated to tea and every tea-making gadget that exists!
I have a few other passions as well including dogs (I have two) and cats (I have three), owls, bird watching, anything chocolate, palm trees, the beach, and the smell of lavender. My main hobby is making jewelry of all kinds, so my other addiction is beads. None of these things would be possible without the perfect cup of tea! Just as you put gas in a car, I must have tea to function.
