Teaviews Profile: Cindy
I am a working wife and mother in my 40's. I spent four years in the Navy in my younger days and never managed to become a coffee enthusiast as seems to be almost a prerequisite for military life! I have always enjoyed tea instead, with Bigelows Cinnamon Stick being an early favorite that I still enjoy on occasion.
While I don't consider myself an expert, I enjoy reading on the subject of teas and in addition to the taste, I am intrigued by the many reported health benefits. I am constantly impressed by the fact that the simple act of preparing tea can offer a different perspective to any day and can understand why some cultures go through actual ceremonies and/or rituals dedicated to the preparation of tea.
My personal preferences in tea change often, depending on many things, including my personal mood, the season and even the time of day. At home, I prefer mostly loose leaf teas but find that they sometimes create a bit too much of a conversation piece at work! At work I am called "The Tea Lady" and keep an embarrasingly LARGE selection of teas. My co-workers often come to me for suggestions and/or samples of teas for anything from a quick pick-me-up to an upset stomach!
I am a self described tea addict but as I am quick to tell people, there are alot worse things to be addicted to! This "hobby" has become a great love of mine and an interesting side note to travelling. Prior to recent trips to Canada and the Bahamas I did online research and was able to pick up some delicious local teas! While flavor may well be the most important aspect to my enjoyment of teas, history, background and cultural differences in tea preparation continue to enhance my enthusiasm.
