I’m Jake, a 19 year old studying ship design in New York while entertaining a growing interest in tea on the side. I grew up on the beautiful Monterey Bay, CA, where I first became passionate about all things culinary. Nowadays, I stick to tea. I drink just about everything I can find, but especially love wuyi cliff teas, and a crisp fresh green tea always seems to hit the spot. I’m slowly venturing into pu’erh, but I never know which ones to buy so it’s a hit or miss proposition.
Usually I brew in gaiwans, but a few of my favorite oolongs and pu’ers have their own yixing pots. I’ve also been known to do herbals in a big tetsubin for my friends. Day to day, I try to have a little Keemun or Darjeeling in the morning, and anything goes from there. I’m really interested to read about your (the reader’s) tea habits, and am always looking for the next great teahouse or tea vendor (not just in NYC, but anywhere).
