Teaviews Profile: Jennifer

Hello, my name is Jennifer, and I reside in sunny Florida. I've grown up in the south, though half my family lives in New England. As a southerner, I've be raised with an appreciation for good food, tradition, and stories. My affinity for literature has lead me to pursue a Masters in English, and my current thesis is on ethnographies and folk tales of the rural Gullah area of South Carolina. On my field trips, I engage in long afternoons rocking on polite little old ladies' porches, sipping Sweet Tea and nibbling on homemade short biscuits. I like to listen to the mixture of English, Gaelic, African, and French intonations in the accents of my hosts, but I truly love the tender care they take in brewing their afternoon tea.

I recently eloped with my best friend, Chut. No, that's not a typo-it's not Chuck, but truly, Chut. As a native of California, he does not share my affinity for Zora Neale Huston, Tennessee Williams, or even Faulkner, but the boy sure won't turn down fried chicken, turnip greens, or especially iced tea. As my partner in crime, he'll often join me in a cup of hot tea in the evening, but as his thoughts are more medically minded than aesthetically so, he's not quick to offer an opinion on said brew. So the opinions written here are truly my own.
