Teaviews Profile: Josie
Hi ya’ll! I’m Josie and I’m blessed to live in the beautiful state of North Carolina, right in the heart of sweet tea country! I was born in Pennsylvania but moved to an impossibly tiny town in the mountains at a young age. I’m really just a simple country girl at heart.
I grew up playing with a large collection of those cute little figurines from Red Rose. My favorite afternoons as a child were spent with my Grandmother, a deck of cards, a homemade dessert and a cup of tea. As I grew older I purchased every flavor of bagged tea at the grocery store. I experimented minimally with loose-leaf tea from our local farmer’s market but the selection was limited. On a trip to NYC I discovered adorable tins of loose-leaf tea at a holiday craft fair in Greenwich Village. I selected just one tin of a ‘Spicy Chocolate’ blend. Let’s just say one sip of that tea opened my eyes to the amazing world of loose-leaf tea. A visit to Tea & Sympathy for a proper cup of tea on that same trip sealed the deal. After that I became a full-fledged tea fanatic and became enthralled with the all of the choices available from online tea companies. After a little research, I have been pleasantly surprised to find that there are a few small tea shops right in my backyard with great selections as well.
When I am not browsing for yummy new teas online, I enjoy being outdoors in the sunshine and reading. I have a tiny Chihuahua who tags along with me everywhere and sometimes will share a drop of tea. I volunteer with a Chihuahua rescue and also go on therapy visits with my retired racing Greyhound. Two kitties and a Parakeet complete our family. Although I am a small town girl I love traveling to the big city. Exploring new tea venues while on vacation is always a must and visiting the Charleston Tea Plantation on a recent vacation was the highlight of my trip.
Since discovering my passion for tea, I read all of the tea material I can subscribe to and I am borderline OCD about my ever-expanding tea cabinet. I love to share my tea obsession and am grateful that my boyfriend also enjoys tea. He’s certainly a gentleman and always pretends to be listening to my endless thoughts about the wonderful aspects of tea. My Mom has recently converted to tea and I treasure our afternoon tea parties. I am far from being an expert, but I can say that I am in love with all things tea – from the many varieties to the dainty china teacups!
