Teaviews Profile: Kyle
I've had a love of tea for well over a decade, drinking cups and cups a day, always brewed with loose leaves, in a teapot and drunk from a teacup and saucer.... proper tea in other words!
When I lived in Japan I studied Chado (Sado, Cha-no-yu, Tea Ceremony) with the local Sensai and achieved the first level certification in the Ura Senke School. Now that I'm at the School of Oriental Studies, here in London, I've begun exploring the world of the Tea Ceremony further with particular focus on its connection to ceramics. Focus on these and weaving my growing knowledge into as many essays as possible is allowing me to build up my expertise on the subject of the Tea Ceremony.
I've dipped in and out of readings in tea over the years until recently deciding to pursue the world of tea more seriously. Further readings, tasting and exploration and then 'The Tea Masterclass' with Jane Pettigrew & Tim Clifton in London have set me on course to pursue my love of tea further and share it with the world.
My Tea blog: http://chatea.posterous.com/ has been running successfully from September 2011 and I'm branching out from it to start holding Tea Tastings or "Tea Salon's" - the trial runs of which were very well received.
