Blood Orange Tea

The blood orange is a variety of orange with crimson, blood-colored flesh. The fruit is smaller than an average orange. The juice is sweet but somewhat bitter and less acidic than that of regular table oranges. The distinctive dark flesh color is due to the presence of anthocyanin, a pigment common to many flowers and fruit, but uncommon in citrus fruits. The blood orange is a hybrid of ancient origin, possibly between the pomelo and the tangerine. It probably originated in Sicily.

"The initial tartness slides into sweetness pretty quickly. I still don't taste other flavors that clearly, though it's easy to attribute the complexity of this tea to them; this isn't a single note tea."

"This is a decent tea, but overall pretty forgettable and nothing I would go out of my way for. There seem to be several other blood orange teas on the market that excel at flavor over this blend."

"The tea delightfully delivers on the not so common flavours of cranberry and blood orange with a refreshing brightness that merges with the candid reedy notes of the rooibos to lend a pleasant fruit punch kind of flavour to this blend. "
