Chocolate Tea

Chocolate teas usually rely on cocoa kernels for their chocolatey taste. A few will get a cocoa-like taste through the use of carob pods, a popular chocolate-substitute from the Mediterranean. Both tea and chocolate are known to have medicinal qualities, particularly when it comes to combating cardiovascular disease, so partaking of these “decadent” drinks needn’t be a guilty little pleasure.

Laura's review: "Because the water cannot be too hot and the infusion time is relatively short at 2-3 minutes, I would also suggest taking a spoon and stirring the leaves a bit before releasing the liquid into the cup as this will allow the chocolate chips to dissolve a bit better flavor the cup. Laura's review: "This is an interesting cup! The first taste of the tea was kinda apricot with a chocolate finish. However, at various stages the notes shuffled themselves. Kalahari ChocoLatte Red Tea Raspberry Truffle
7.5/10 — 3 reviews

 |
Laura's review: "This has more of a genuine, dark chocolate aftertaste. The raspberry is a sweet raspberry flavor and reminds me of a raspberry that you would find in a good raspberry truffle and has no tartness. I had no trouble sipping this down." Read review » |

 |
Shelly's review: "The chocolate and raspberry flavors are there, but it tastes more like a packet of raspberry hot chocolate that was mixed in too much water. Local Coffee + Tea Chocolate Honeybush
7.5/10 — 4 reviews

 |
Laura's review: "Once the cup cooled a bit, I was greeted by a pleasant cup that is dominated by the honeybush flavor itself. There is a slight chocolate undertone to this that kind of flirts with your tastebuds prompting you to keep drinking it. " Read review » |
|
7/10 |
 |
Lynn's review: "I did what I seldom do: I added a teaspoonful of raw sugar. It was, of course, sweeter, and the honey and caramel flavors far more pronounced and to a great degree, more satisfying. It took on a creamier, thicker feel, and I did feel like I was drinking caramel and honey, with a touch of chocolate. I think I'm just going to have to finally accept that some teas and tisanes need sugar." Read review » |
|
7.5/10 |

Zhena's Gypsy Tea Chocolate Jasmine
7.3/10 — 3 reviews

 |
Laura's review: " The primary flavor is actually a nice deep cocoa flavor that is similar to a darker chocolate flavor. The jasmine in this brew is almost an after-thought and really just adds interest instead of totally dominating the cup." Read review » |

7.5/10 |
 |
Kari's review: "In the cup, the jasmine aroma was pleasing and the chocolate wasn’t too sweet." Read review » |

Vanessa's review: "The jasmine flavor was not too strong, which was ideal for me. At a not-quite-hot-yet-not-quite-cold temperature, it was easier to draw out the chocolate flavor, and the jasmine provided a nice, clean finish. This tea gets points for its uncommon blend of ingredients. " Read review » |

Zhi Tea Cacao Chai
7.3/10 — 5 reviews

Vanessa's review: "The brewed tea is everything the enticing aroma promises. The ginger, cinnamon and cardamom are well-balanced, although the cardamom seems to come through just a bit more than the other spices. Jamie's review: "After all, the tea had no bitterness to it, was nice and smooth, and obviously, if you've brewed yourself a cup of chocolate orange truffle tea, you aren't really interested in the solo flavor of a black tea. Laura's review: "This is a fairly well-flavored blend though I did enjoy the Matcha Mint a bit more.
