Irish Breakfast Tea

Irish Breakfast tea is a full-bodied, brisk, malty brew. It is a blend of several black teas: most often Assam teas and, less often, other types of black tea. In Ireland, it is not referred to as “Irish Breakfast tea”, but simply as “tea”. It is enjoyed throughout the day and evening. Most commonly, Irish Breakfast tea is drunk with milk, but some prefer to drink it straight or with lemon.

Golden Moon Irish Breakfast

Teaviews Member: Kari Kari's review:
"When the leaves became infused, there was a little grassy aroma, which I wasn’t expecting. The color was a rich deep copper. The taste was robust, hearty, astringent and lively. This really would be great with oatmeal, like the description says"

"This is a connoisseurʼs breakfast tea and worthy of the special reserve label, but unfortunately these leaves havenʼt the stamina to make it to a second steeping."

"The aroma is sweet, still similar to the fragrance of hay. Upon the first sip, I experienced a sweet, mild flavor of traditional black tea, but no briskness to follow."

"This tea is rich, strong, and packs a nice punch of flavor that can be described as nutty, and bold without the bitterness. This tea has a really smooth taste even though it is very strong, a sign of a high quality tea in my opinion."

"A more delicate black tea than I would expect from a Breakfast Blend but would be perfect for someone who is looking for subtlety and wants to enjoy a morning tea without additions."

"This is no wimpy tea, but just when you think it is heading into tannic bitterness it settles into deep and gentle sweetness, without sacrificing any of its stand up character."

"The strong eucalyptus like flavor was very forward, with a spicy melange lingering on the tongue. The spiciness was nice, but the eucalyptus-like flavor was not a pleasant taste to me and I found it overbearing."

"To add enough milk and sweetener to detract from the bitter and astringent tea, you end up covering the positive flavours like the maltiness and smokiness."

"I've heard that you can't say "yes" or "no" in Irish. That's how I feel about this tea. I wouldn't turn it down, I wouldn't go out seeking it. It's not great, but it's rather good."

Teaviews Member: Vanessa Vanessa's review:
"This tea is certainly robust, and could never be accused of being weak. Because of the strong flavor of this tea and the ease with which the small leave pieces could be over-steeped to produce a bitter liquid, this tea is best taken with milk and sugar, and plenty of them. "
