"The overwhelmingly dominant flavor element I noticed was a toasty-roasty flavor. This tea needs sugar to keep that toasty/burnt flavor in check."

"The deliciously scented light to medium bodied brew offers a juicy, pleasing black currant flavour with a little sweetness to it yet the black tea base seems to subdue the lighter currant notes, grounding them with its more rugged, earthy character"

"My sample was composed of smallish, somewhat broken black tea leaves generously leavened with the flower petals and bits of dried orange peel. It had a heady orange fragrance with subtle nutmeg undertones."

"This is a decent tea, but overall pretty forgettable and nothing I would go out of my way for. There seem to be several other blood orange teas on the market that excel at flavor over this blend."

"I have a tendency to be hard on blends that contain rosehips and hibiscus anyway as they tend to make blends too tart to suit my personal taste preferences. I can't say that they made the blend TOO tart in this case, but I just think that excluding those ingredients might have made this blend better."

"Sweetener highlights the chocolate notes and also brings out a bit more of the roasty mate flavor. I know this blend would handle steamed milk of your choice well - but you can be pretty versatile with your choices and have a lovely cup any way you choose. "

"I then added about two teaspoons of rock sugar and a splash of half and half. The result was a sweet, mellow drink with mild spiciness that was well blended enough that I couldn't really distinguish one spice from another, except that there was still no peppery taste or sensation, and no real flavor of the tea. The flavors were well balanced otherwise, however. It was tasty and pleasant, but I can't say I was really wowed. "

"Tuo chas are cute. About the size and shape of a cherry, they are little hollow bowls made of pressed tea and come wrapped in white tissue paper. The compressed leaves are dark brown with flecks of lighter, ruddy brown and smell nicely sweet and earthy. Serious pu'erh drinkers, who expect to know the age and provenance of such teas, will be disappointed but for a portable everyday version, this has potential. "

KTeas Pu'erh Leaf tea

4/10  —  1 review
Teaviews Member: Raven Raven's review:
"The taste isn’t as earthy as the aroma alludes as it has a mineral edginess, although it still draws me outside with flint, black walnut hulls or cocoa shells one puts in one’s garden. While it doesn't try to be something it's not, the eager mineral earthiness might not persuade all for a second date."

"While not bitter or sour in taste per se, and while a smoothness to the tea is also present, there's a harsh and slightly biting quality to the sip that hits and fills up the back of the throat in a way that I find unappealing."

"I played it safe and was rewarded with a dark ochre liquor that had a strong aroma of wet, raw soil full of leaf mould and roots—the embodiment of "earthy." The flavor was virtually identical, with some mild astringency. Where pu'erhs should be smoothly sweet, earthy, and woody, this steeping was just earthy. "
