For as long as I can remember, I've been a tea fanatic. My earliest tea memories go back to early childhood. My mother first introduced me to it, I'm sure, because I don't remember my father ever being much of a tea-drinker. Of course, Mom had her own way of making tea. She'd brew a plain tea bag (Lipton, or, being of the thrifty sort, probably generic-brands) in a single cup and then she'd pour about a half-inch of so of orange juice into it. No milk, no sugar - just orange juice. This never... read more »

I'm Lea. I'm twenty two, was born in Ohio, and am currently residing in Alabama. I love vegan cooking, and (intelligent) survival horror movies, Asian culture, cats and, of course, tea. An ideal afternoon for me would be reading up on a Chinese empress with one of my cats curled in my lap, a steaming cup of tea beside me. My relationship with tea began when I was a child. My mom would make me a cup if I didnt feel well or couldn't sleep. A couple years later I was making it for myself, alway... read more »

I love science (more specifically of math, physics, space, etc.), playing and listening to music (I play mandolin and guitar), cult movies (such as Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), spicy food, philosophy and the wonderful drink of tea. I am a working wife and mother in my 40's. I spent four years in the Navy in my younger days and never managed to become a coffee enthusiast as seems to be almost a prerequisite for military life! I have always enjoyed tea instead, with Bigelows Cinnamon Stick being an early favorite that I still enjoy on occasion. While I don't consider myself an expert, I enjoy reading on the subject of teas and in addition to the taste, I am intrigued by the many reported health benefits. I am constant... read more »

Hello, I'm David. I'm in my late forties, was born in Oklahoma, but have spent almost all of my life in Texas. When I'm not enjoying the company of my wife, twin daughters, and two dogs, I enjoy music of all kinds, outdoor activities (hiking, camping, and sailing when I have the opportunity), reading, watching sci-fi, chocolate, and, of course, tea. I am an attorney in Arlington, Texas. I drink at least two large cups of tea everyday. My first love for tea came from drinking my mother’s Lipton instant tea with sweet and low when I was a child. It was always best when it had been sitting for a while and the ice was melted. I dropped tea for a long term addiction to Dr. Pepper, but was reintroduced in early 2007. Oh, I tried hot tea from time to time, but it was always the common ones: Orange Spice or Chamomile. I tried some ... read more »

I'm Rebekah, and I don't remember not being a tea drinker. I grew up on sweet Southern iced tea, sweetened with Sweet-n-Low as a concession to my diabetic mother and brother. I first started drinking hot teas while visiting an aunt in my early pre-teen years, we would sip on herbal infusions while eating frozen grapes and watching television at night. While the herbal infusions that I tried then were not my favorite, they sparked my interest in exploring the realm of tea. I am now a die hard te... read more »

Tea is a rather delicate subject, and rightly so, for it is also a delicate drink. Where soda satisfies the stripling, wine tickles the fancy of the well budgeted oenophile, beer occupies the serious brew monger, and water to the aesthetic and the athlete, tea is altogether itself. It belongs to nobody, yet almost everybody is beholden to tea. I am no exception, having recently been lassoed by the drink's fine charms after a stunning cup of Chinese black tea during an hour of unrest and panic... read more »

I'm Nicole and I'm twenty eight. I've lived in New Jersey for all of my life. In my day job I work in customer service for a wine retailer. My discovery of real tea is fairly recent. I enjoyed the standard Lipton black tea while growing up. When the time came for me to go away to college, I stated to branch out and try some the herbal teas in the grocery stores. I grew up with tea every day. But, like most southern families, our tea was iced and pre-sweetened. I'm Chelsy, married, in my twenties and a biological scientist. I am quite fond of cooking, reading about cooking, reading non-fictions, writing, rock climbing and learning different languages. Of course tea is also one of my favourite things. I started drinking tea when I decided that it was in my best interests to scale down the amount of coffee I was drinking. I developed a love for it after I realised that there was an artsy talent that went into crafting and brewing tea, and that it was won... read more »

Hi, my name is Spencer and I love tea. I started drinking tea in high school, when it replaced hot chocolate and soda as my beverage of choice. Since then, I have never looked back. Years have past, and tea has become an integral part of my life. I am always open to expanding my horizons and tastes for tea, as well as learning about the deep, rich history that is as much a part of tea culture as the tea itself. My favourite specific tea is Jasmine Dragon Pearls, but I drink a lot of oolongs and ... read more »

Hi! My name is Melanie. I am 48 and have been a tea fanatic for years. Growing up, I often dreamt that I was Scottish or British. My love for everything UK followed me into adulthood and I became enthralled with collecting unique teacups and ordered books from England to learn how to properly brew loose leaf tea. I drank coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. During a “dream come true” visit to England in 2000, I tasted a variety of wonderful teas in the homes we stayed in. I ca... read more »

I’m Rebecca, a dual American-Australian citizen in love with sun, sand, surf and simple cups of tea. I recently spent a few months on a mate-fuelled trip through South America. I’ve sampled kava in Fiji, Earl Grey ice cream and cocktails in New York and even arrived on horseback at a tea plantation in the Australian rainforest – but it’s still just a small sip of the culture, history and innovation brewing in the world of tea! Despite growing up in snowy Upstate New York, I didn’t ... read more »

Bryan was introduced to tea while in college, through a british friend. Though he started out with Indian and Chinese Black teas, he soon discovered how all varieties of tea had that "spark" to them. At 21 years old, he had tried practically every variety he could find: Greens, Oolongs, Whites, Yellows, Cooked and Raw pu-erh's, Liu bao, Liu an, and the list goes on. He currently lives in Columbia, South Carolina. When he isn't reviewing or enjoying teas, Bryan can be found composing music, w... read more »

Hi! I'm Ashley and I'm 22 years old. I'm currently in the Midwest but will be moving out to Seattle soon. Ever since I worked at a coffee/tea shop several years ago and engaged in a tea tasting I've been hooked on tea! My biggest passions are music, art, reading, writing and health. I sing and play several instruments, I love to create from all sorts of mediums, and I'm interested in holistic health and naturopathy and am working on launching an organic body care line in the near future. My name is Jenn and I'm a thirty something, animal loving, kombucha brewing, quasi creative, vegan foodie, and tea fiend living with my soul mate and three pups in the suburbs of Los Angeles California. I have loved tea my entire life. I remember storing my childhood treasures in my grandma Nonny’s discarded tea tins. Nonny gave me my first fancy china teacup, and I don’t think that it’s any mystery why even to this day I associate the smell of black tea with happiness. Most days, I ... read more »

Tea became my drink of choice on Friday the 13, 1979. It was Good Friday. I was staying with my friend, Julie, whose family was devoutly Catholic. "We can't eat or drink anything except water and black tea," Julie announced as she retrieved a pot and a box of Lipton from her kitchen cupboards. I still remember the dark amber swirls the teabags made in the boiling water as she sloshed them around. I was hungry and the smell was divine. With once sip, I was hooked. For decades, I ... read more »

I discovered tea about ten years ago, and my love of it has only grown since then. I drink 2-3 cups a day. While I enjoy all kinds of tea, I'm a bit of a purist. I've always preferred the classics: straight black, green, white or oolong – no sugar, milk or flavourings. Nothing beats a good Darjeeling first thing in the morning, or a Chinese green tea in the afternoon. What always amazes me about tea is how every cup tastes different. Because of the complexity of good tea, subtle differences... read more »

My name is Alexander, and I'm a 22 year old music student living in upstate New York. I play recorder and native american flute. Besides music and tea, I am interested in backgammon, scifi and fantasy novels, and my cat. I first got interested in tea at around the age of 13 or 14, starting off with fancy teabag teas (like Bigelow or Twinings – I don't remember the exact brands). Then, one day, I chanced upon the small loose tea section in the local supermarket. I bought two tins (Jacks... read more »

I discovered Teaviews while searching online to replace my defunct tea provider. I’m a journalist and civil engineer with a consulting engineering practice. I write mysteries on the side. I’ve been a nearly rabid tea drinker for 35+ years. I am primarily a fan of Indian tea and similar teas from SE Asia or Africa. I also like British tea blends. I hit the “older opinionated tea drinker” demographic right on the nail head. We don’t so much drink coffee any more (if we ever did), ... read more »

Hi ya’ll! I’m Josie and I’m blessed to live in the beautiful state of North Carolina, right in the heart of sweet tea country! I was born in Pennsylvania but moved to an impossibly tiny town in the mountains at a young age. I’m really just a simple country girl at heart. I grew up playing with a large collection of those cute little figurines from Red Rose. My favorite afternoons as a child were spent with my Grandmother, a deck of cards, a homemade dessert and a cup of tea. As I... read more »

I've had a love of tea for well over a decade, drinking cups and cups a day, always brewed with loose leaves, in a teapot and drunk from a teacup and saucer.... proper tea in other words! When I lived in Japan I studied Chado (Sado, Cha-no-yu, Tea Ceremony) with the local Sensai and achieved the first level certification in the Ura Senke School. Now that I'm at the School of Oriental Studies, here in London, I've begun exploring the world of the Tea Ceremony further with particular focus on i... read more »

I have been an avid tea drinker for many years now with the flourishing of local tea houses and tea shops. I'm not entirely sure when I truly became seriously interested in tea. It feels like I've always enjoyed it. I guess it started with a passion for herbs. I had drunken the occasional bagged green tea but during college I began to take up a serious interest in herbal medicine and creating that medicine in the form of a tea. From there it grew into an interest in green tea and chai and learning the appreciation of a high quality tea. I'm still pretty new to black teas, I've always shied away from ... read more »

For the first ten of my tea drinking years, a cup of Twining's English Breakfast with a heaping spoon of clover honey suited my tea-craving taste buds just fine. It was not until a shamefully recent time in my life that I became acquainted with the world of loose leaf tea, dissolving my appetite for the bagged and heavily sweetened variety. Overall, while herbal and fruit blends are suitable on plenty occasion, I find that straight teas offer the greatest indulgences. Ever since my first cup... read more »

Though I’ve always enjoyed an occasional cup of tea on a chilly day, my interest in tea recently began to grow into an obsession. I would say my interest in tea definitely came from my mother. A day has rarely gone by in my lifetime, when she hasn’t had a cup of tea (no joke!). For a few years I preferred coffee to tea and it wasn’t until I experienced some high quality teas that my mindset changed. I fell in love with all the different flavors and health benefits of tea.
