nissan-thermos.jpgI was looking for a convenient way to brew loose-leaf tea at the office. I was also interested in a thermos I could use to take tea with me. I came across the Nissan Tea Tumbler on Amazon's website. The price was right and the reviews were good, so I decided to give it a try.

This is a convenient and affordable item that should be in the arsenal of everyone who enjoys tea. The Tumbler comes in three pieces; the thermos, the infuser, and the lid. The infuser is built into a screw cap that fits over the thermos and the lid screws into the infuser section. Use is very straightforward: put tea leaves in the infuser, fill with water until it is about half way up the infuser. That is really all you have to do, but to make sure it steeps completely, you can attach the lid and turn the tumbler upside-down. This works very well, but of course you must make sure that the caps are screwed down tightly.

There are not many drawbacks. You can not put the lid directly on the tumbler, but have to include the infuser section. This has not been a problem for me so far. Infusers are never easy to clean, but with the Nissan, clean up is fairly easy. Oh, and it keeps your tea hot. When I poured the boiling water into the stainless steel thermos, I expected to feel the heat on the outside of the thermos, like I do with other mugs I use. I felt nothing. I could not feel any of the heat and thought that it probably kept the heat in very well. This was confirmed when I left it behind, full of tea, instead of taking it with me to a relative's house. When I returned home ...œ nine hours later ...œ the tea was not hot, but had still not cooled to room temperature.
