Its OK"An interesting blend, but the chocolate and mint flavors seem at odds with the particularly vegetal green tea used as a base. "

adagio-cocomint-green.jpgThis is an interesting tea. Opening up the tin you're hit immediately by the aroma of mint and chocolate. These aromas all much more muted in the final brew, though, so those expecting to be assaulted by these same flavors while drinking it may be a bit disappointed. The taste is primarily that of a decent grade Chinese green tea, a bit more vegetal than earthy. The mint is subtle but appears immediately in the aftertaste, while the barest hint of chocolate essence slowly builds after several sips. There is no real natural sweetness here, so you may want to draw out these flavors with a bit of sugar.

I liked this tea, but not quite as much as I'd hoped to. The flavors here weren't nearly as bold as you'd think they were, judging by the aroma of the leaves, and layering chocolate notes on to a vegetal green tea seems like a bit of a mismatch to me. A more neutral or earthier green tea, like the Darjeeling green Adagio uses in their Casablanca Twist, might have set up a better canvas for these flavors.

Its an interesting blend, and one which seems to have quite a following, but it just didn't hit the right notes for my tastes.

Oh and a final note, be sparing with the leaves on this one - they expand quite a bit when brewed, so a little goes a long way!
