Thumbs up!"The flavors are more subtle than you'd find in most similar blends, but they work well together... a good introduction for those who aren't big fans of heavily spiced teas."

zoomdweebies-citrus-spice.jpgTake a good look at the leaves in this blend and you'll see that there's a lot going on here. Although its primarily a black tea, there's also lemon peel, lemongrass, cinnamon and cloves all mixed in together to make one of the more interesting combinations I've seen in a while.

The brew is surprisingly mild, considering all the ingredients. The primary flavor is still the black tea, and there are only faint hints of clove, cinnamon and lemongrass in the background. The citrus flavor here is either entirely absent or very, very muted - try as I might, I couldn't really pick up on it. (The closest I got was a bit of a zing in the aftertaste, which could have been either from the lemongrass or the lemon peel, or possibly both).

Despite the lack of citrus-flavor I found that I really did enjoy this blend. If you're familiar with some of my older reviews you'll know that I'm a big fan of spiced teas and chais, especially when they're just loaded with spices and flavor. This one is almost the polar opposite - the flavors are there, but they're very, very subtle, compared to most spiced teas, and they compliment the black tea base instead of completely overwhelming it. That was a nice change of pace, and I'll bet tea lovers who find most "orange spice" teas to be a bit much for them might find this muted blend much more to their liking.
