gypsytea-italian-chamomile.jpgZhena's Gypsy Tea is a brand I haven't heard of until getting a sample of their Italian Chamomile. They pride themselves on their efforts to offer organic and fair trade tea to help promote the local economies of the tea growers. You can read all about that on their website including a lot of other interesting tea stuff, even how to throw your own Gypsy Tea party.

They say that “After a meal or before bed, this Italian herbal recipe soothes and calms both body and soul.” Organic chamomile is supposed to help cultivate patience and relaxation. Along with organic Fair Trade chamomile, their Italian Chamomile teabags include Organic fennel, Organic hibiscus, Organic lemon peel, Organic rosebuds, and Organic essential oil of lemon.

After brewing the tea and removing the round teabag, the tea took on a very light peach color with a wonderful smell of the Chamomile. Most of what I can taste in the tea is from the Chamomile itself and a mixture of the lemon peel and essential lemon oil that really bring out a fresh tasting tea. The tea is just the right amount of sweet on its own and is almost just like a good piece of homemade candy. There really is a lot of flavor in these for being a teabag and there is no bitterness or astringency at all.

I will get buying more of these and will also be trying out others from Gypsy Tea. The ingredients must be of top quality as is evident in the tea itself. I am not all that familiar with Chamomile tea but this one really made me appreciate it. An absolute perfect cup for any time of day and something I would have no problem drinking everyday.
