teaguys-carrot-cake.jpgFrom the instant I got a whiff of TeaGuys' Carrot Cake rooibos, I knew I would love this tea. This tea smells incredible, and luckily for me, the tea delivers in taste exactly what its heavenly aroma promises. This tea is so close to the real deal that it is hard to believe that one is "just" drinking tea and not some mysteriously-liquified carrot cake. The tea is loaded with all the essentials needed to deliver the authentic carrot cake taste: carrots (of course), cinnamon, walnuts, cloves, raisins, ginger, coconut, and maple brittle. While sipping the tea, the aroma of cloves, cinnamon and ginger hit both the taste buds and the nose, and seem to give a little spicy kick that follows the liquid down one's throat. The various flavor ingredients are added over a base of organic rooibos (with some organic honeybush blended in as well) to result in a superb blend. The rooibos/honeybush base is very subtle (to be honest, I couldn't really taste a characteristic rooibos or honeybush flavor), but the base chosen is perfect for allowing the carrot cake flavors to come through. TeaGuys' Carrot Cake tea also has a natural sweetness (perhaps from the maple brittle) which eliminated the need to add any additional sugar. On a whim, I added a splash of milk to a small amount of tea to see if I could use the milk's creaminess to simulate carrot cake frosting. While the addition of the milk was nice, I think the tea is great on its own, and really needs nothing more than to be brewed as is, and enjoyed. I have only finished one cup of this tea, and I can already declare that TeaGuys' Carrot Cake rooibos will have a front row space in my overcrowded tea cabinet. This caffeine-free blend is authentic in its flavor and easily ranks among the best rooibos blends I have had.
