Thumbs up!"This brewed to a beautiful berry red color and the aroma made the whole kitchen smell like berries, bringing back memories of canning berry preserves with my grandmother."

sunner-romance.jpgTeaGschwendner had a great showing at the World Tea Championship this year so I was excited to try as many of their award-winning teas as I could get my hands on! While there are some good berry blends out there, I have found a couple of good ones and tend to stick with them as a lot of them are the same--very tart and average. However, when I realized that Summer Romance had placed in the Top 5 Hibiscus Blends under $15, I became more excited about sampling it.

Summer Romance is described by TeaGschwendner as a fruity, tangy mélange of fresh raspberries and strawberries, rounded off with a touch of vanilla. My sample was just big enough for two cups, and I suspected that I would actually enjoy this better cold than hot. Therefore, I decided to chill some and also do a hot cup for comparison.

I made this with boiling water and steeped for closer to ten minutes. Don't be shocked but I also added a heaping tsp of sugar to both cups, though I did sip the hot one first without any sugar. The purists out there will definitely enjoy this as well.

Summer Romance manages to walk the line of offering a little tartness while still having the ultimate flavor showcase the berries. I was hoping to taste the vanilla a little more but maybe it is added a little neutralness to the tart. As a hot drink, this is good. However, I don't think I'd waste a teaspoon of it making a hot drink because it is fabulous chilled!! Tastes just like a berry jello drink or cool aid. Yes, children will definitely drink this.

Bottom line, I absolutely recommend this and can understand why it placed at the World Tea Championship. It is reasonably priced at 6.90 for 3.53 oz and TeaGschwendner does offer free shipping on orders over $35. Further they have a world-class website full of information and award-winning teas. Check it out and absolutely order some of this while you're there!
