leaves-of-provence.jpgLeaves of Provence is a complex blend of black tea, mint, verbena, lime tea, lavender, citrus fruits, rose tea, dried fruit pieces, orange peels, vanilla pieces, white tea, natural flavors, and cornflower petals. Reading that list off the Mighty Leaf website was exhausting, and I feared that this tea would suffer from having just too many ingredients in the mix. When preparing to infuse this tea, I noticed two things: 1) the tea had a general sweet aroma to it, but it was hard to attribute that sweetness to any particular ingredient or ingredients, and 2) a fine mesh strainer would be necessary to prepare this tea, as many of the pieces of herbs and leaves in this blend were considerably small. I prepared the tea as advised by Mighty Leaf, steeping 1 tsp of leaves in boiling water for 3 minutes. The result: a dark amber brew with an overall sweetness but lacking any distinguishable ingredient contributions. Overall, I found this to be a pleasant cup of tea with a nice clean finish, but it just seemed as if there were too many ingredients mixed in here to produce a truly amazing blend. After the tea cooled a bit, I was able to detect the mint a bit more, but the general sense was just one of "herbalness" and not of any particular ingredient. I will note, however, that this tea avoided any medicinal tastes that can sometimes accompany the addition of many types of herbs. I don't plan to purchase this one for myself, and while I won't discourage others from giving it a try, I don't think I will go out of my way to recommend it either.
