Its OK"This tea, to my taste, is just over the edge of a flavorful balance. It is a little too intensely, almost artificially strong and sweet both in the nose and on the taste buds, though I should be clear that there are no artificial ingredients whatsoever in this tea blend."

After trying another sweet herbal tea by Tea Guys, also in a base of rooibos tea, I was eager to try out the seasonal offering they call "Sweet Pumpkin Spice." My immediate impression of the tea via fragrance was of a very sweet (possibly too sweet) tea with a dessert like quality to it. I find these teas can be a lot of fun this time of the year, as drinking them is almost like having a dessert, whether you add milk to the tea or not!

Sweet Pumpkin Spice is a spiced tea set in a base of organic honeybush and organic rooibos tea, with some buckwheat in the mix - though I don't think this is a big part of the base since buckwheat has a pretty distinct flavor that I didn't pick up on at all. The honeybush and rooibos is quite sweet on its own, and this tea also includes some stevia leaf in the mix, as the final ingredient, which is an extremely naturally sweet leaf grown originally in Paraguay (if I remember correctly). Something about the tea was a little cloying to me. I picked it up in the scent as well, and though I've scanned the other ingredients (mace, ginger, cinnamon, candied peanuts, pumpkin spices, natural flavors, and pumpkin seeds), I can't be sure of what it is causing the too sweet sensation I'm getting. This tea, to my taste, is just over the edge of a flavorful balance. It is a little too intensely, almost artificially strong and sweet both in the nose and on the taste buds, though I should be clear that there are no artificial ingredients whatsoever in this tea blend. Possibly I am just not a pumpkin tea type!

I will hand it to the folks at TeaGuys, though, when it comes to a nicely presented tea. All of the teas that I have tried from this company are beautifully packaged and presented, and the smells are rich and enticing. The components of the teas are really impressive - big chunky dried fruits, frequently organically grown tea used as bases, toasted or candied nuts...there is really something rewarding about brewing up their teas just from an aesthetic standpoint, aside from the taste. They are fun to look at, and heavenly to smell!

I can't say I would try Sweet Pumpkin Spice tea again. It was a little too much for me, possibly due to all the spices in the tea, (the flavor of spice dominated, rather than pumpkin) which sort of bowled me over. But this is a decent tasting tea and for holiday tea lovers, I would definitely recommend it, as it's a fun and seasonal brew that you won't be able to drink all year round.
