vanilla_mint_big.jpgI'm not usually a fan of plain vanilla tea; I love vanilla, but drinking it just doesn't sit well with me. However, mix a little somethin' somethin' with that vanilla, and I'm all over it. That being said, Golden Moon's Vanilla Mint sounded like heaven on earth to me, and in the end, it pretty much is.

I was immediately impressed by the smell of the dried leaves: completely vanilla and mint, perfectly blended. No weird grassy tones from the green tea or funkiness from the black. It's just mint and vanilla through and through. Actually reminds me of a mint chocolate candy I used to eat as a kid at Christmas, and it's absolutely delicious.

The taste, however, definitely has black tea in it, with a bit of astringency possibly from the green tea. And the mint doesn't come out much in the flavor. But, if you had a bit of milk and a touch of sweetener, it more than lives up to the hopes and dreams of the dried leaves.

Bottom Line: Darn near perfect dessert tea, in my opinion. It's smooth and delicious, and while it's not the greatest on it's own, with a little bit of tweaking it becomes amazing.
