serendipiteafruitmedley.jpgWhile it certainly won't be winning any awards for the most creative name, the Serendipitea tisane known as "A fruit medley" is a pretty tasty treat. The blend, which consists of apples, rose hips, orange peels, hibiscus, and apricots, brews to a pale and slightly opaque liquid. The apples and apricots are the predominant flavors in the blend, and the orange peel adds a almost unnoticeable citrus kick. I was pleased to note that the contribution of the hibiscus (which can often be overpowering) was minimal. The most accurate way I can describe the flavor of this tisane is to say that it tastes very much like warmed apple juice that has been seasoned ever so slightly with a bit of apricot and orange. It has an almost cider-like quality about it, except that it lacks the traditional cinnamon spiciness associated with cider. For those that love apples and apple juice, this tisane will surely be a hit. I sampled this tea on a rather cool day, and I found this to be a comforting, caffeine-free treat. My main criticism with this tisane, as with most blends, is that it brewed to a fairly weak-bodied beverage. Even by steeping two heaping teaspoons of the blend in 8 ounces of water for nearly five minutes, the tea still tasted watered-down. I would recommend infusing considerably large quantities of this blend per cup (which could get expensive) for at least five minutes in order to get a fuller-bodied tea.
