goldenmoonvanillajasmine.jpgThis tea is having an identity crisis. Is it vanilla or is it jasmine? Because the flavors just don’t seem to blend seamlessly into a satisfying drink.

The vanilla is of a very marshmallow-flavored nature; there is no depth or buttery quality. Indeed, it tastes like a generic mini marshmallow. Meanwhile, the jasmine suffers in this pairing because this shallow vanilla flavor dulls the snappy edge that characterizes jasmine tea. What is left is a run of the mill tea that lacks a superior quality.

I love vanilla and I love jasmine. I liked this tea, but it is missing any extraordinary attributes. I don’t consider it a gourmet tea based solely on taste. However, the aroma is pleasing, once again in a marshmallowy way.

When I have a jasmine tea, I must have that intoxicating aroma and nearly sharp aftertaste to appreciate the flower. When I have a vanilla tea, I feel it should be deep and buttery like a cup of frosting. The two flavors should be so strong on their own, but they cancelled each other out and left me wanting something more.

This is my second try with Golden Moon and both flavors lacked a strong flavor for me.
