goldenmoonrose.jpgWhen I first pulled out the sample of this tea, I expected something relatively delicate with a light rose scent. I was instead greeted by the overpowering smell of roses, which is a theme that continued for the rest of my rose tea experience.

Once steeped, the flavour became a bit more subtle than the scent, but the rosiness built on itself, becoming more powerful with every sip. Perhaps the aspect I found most disappointing about this tea is that the black tea itself was barely detectable, poking its head out just a touch in the aftertaste.

I finished my cup, but not very enthusiastically, and by the end the powerful rose flavour was beginning to border on unbearable. I just could not get over the sensation that I was drinking perfume. I'll probably pass the rest of the sample onto someone else. I imagine some people would rather enjoy this tea, but when it comes to drinking flowers, I prefer a more subdued cup.
